I might not use the Pioneer headunit I originally listed, I found that Sony headunits like the CDX-GT620 / GT720 / GT820 have a CD signal-to-noise ratio of 120 (db), whereas all Pioneers are rated at 94. The higher number means less background noise.

Question for anybody pertaining to that :

Is there a noticeable difference between 120 and 94 ? I would think so ?

Yeah I would add a 3rd or even a 4th battery knowing how your going to use it.
I have a system with 2 amps and it will drain my 2 batteries in 90mins.

Yeah, I will definately need another battery ( or 3 ! ), since we will prolly be floating in the Pen more this year than we will be running, 260 gallons x 4.50 = but hey, the bright side is at least I dont need to run race gas

Just like jonyb described above. You have to have enough power to do this though. I could have run 8 speakers off the PDX 4.150 and still had plenty of power. I have the gains on both amps turned down.

As we went over at the marina, we will use the sub in the right rear of the boat and use the existing placement for the new JL coax speakers. We will put an a/b switcher on the speakers in the cuddy to turn them off when the kids are watching tv.

The only issues i believe we will have to address when the boat is down here would be checking the size of the power inverter in the boat and making sure it has enough juice to power the tv, and a Playstation 3 and whatever you decide to plug in. Also the support for the drivers seat may hinder our placement of the front speaker. but those are not huge deals and we will be able to work around them.
from all of my research the alpine head unit is not available yet if your guy can get them let me know who it is as I want one

The other non-marine ipod controller head units are out though. If you're head unit is out in the weather, use a good cover and it'll be just as good.

Question

I was told that http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/ is NOT a factory authorized dealer for JL and if you buy JL Audio from them theres no factory warranty.Whats to this ???

I am looking for a JL Audio M6600 amp

Was also thinking about replacing all my MB Quarts to the JL Audio M770-CCX 7.7" Marine Coaxial Speakers
