Default SBI Ft Lauderdale Photos- An Offshore Air Show

Wow Wow Wow- had a blast at the race.
Rough water kept everybody in the air- it was quite a show.
Gotta thank Rick (rchevelle) and his wife for the hospitality...
and Team Geico for the food and the wardrobe upgrade (thanks, Scotty!)
and for allowing me to climb all over their new baby and take some pix...

here's some of the air...

Met more of my OSO brothers, too-
karaokemike, taboo, the donz, miami boyz, tatonka, daredevil, mikebrls...
and so many on Team Geico I can't remember them all--
nice to put faces with the names!

Here are a few shots of the new Mystic.
We went out to the beach early and got some shots of the test run.
Unfortunately, some electrical issues kept the boat out of the race--
but that thing is spectacular, even when it ain't running.
One thing I noticed on all the running shots of it
is how much heat is coming from the exhausts.
I guess that's what 6,000+ hp will get ya!

I've got more of the boat... will post more tomorrow.

At least that looks like real offshore racing water, compared to the conditions at E Lake Toho.

How many boats raced?

Jay you have quickly become one of my favorite members with these pics you take! The Air & Sea Show was a "must see" event for me in Fort Lauderdale. I was so sad when it was cancelled this year. Thanks for making it a great weekend anyway!

I do believe I recognize an old competitor of mine in that P3 52 boat...if you look at the lines real close, you will see one of the greatest race boats of all time ....the old Michelob Light of Joey Ippolito. Now that is the kind of beautiful water that we may have for the Don Aronow Memorial race over to Bimini and back. Real ocean conditions with real open ocean water across the Gulfstream. Beautiful photos ....you really captured the essence of ocean racing....dealing with the ocean itself and how many times you realize you can never conquer it, you can only live the adventure.
