Default depth finder transducers?

OK my wife got me a garmin 440s it has a transom mount transducer that gives water temp as well as depth, I think both would nice to know but I hate the look of a transom mounted transducer on the back of my 1997 32 baja outlaw with twins. I really am not worried about the mile an hour I will prob lose due to the drag of the transducer I just don't like the look. Friends tell me the only time I will see it is when it's on the trailer, and they are right but it just doesn't look cool to me on that style of boat. What is your oponion? and if you know of the best location look at my thread under Baja owners forum
