Boat lifts and cats
Anyone have a pic or can explain their set up on a boat lift for a cat. We have lift set up for a vee and need to change over to a cat. Just wondering if all you need is the two main runners in between the sponsons(sp?) or need the extra little runners at the bottom too.

I think usually they just put two main runners, but I have seen them both ways.

We use two main runners inside of the tunnel. You will need to make certain that the angle of the runners offsets the angle of attack in the tunnel. Otherwise, you could find a wet boat sliding backwards when lifting.
Good Luck! |
So pretty much make the angles of the runners the same as on the trailer. Thanks for info guys.

KiloKat, that is a sweet picture of your "slow" boat in PB.;)

I re-rigged my lift from a vee to a cat. I used two runners, made sure they were tall enough that the sponsons can not touch the crossbars even at the deepest point of the tunnel. I also set the runners so as they are narrower at the entrance and almost the full width of the tunnel at the front. This way the boat centers itself as I pull in. I also padded the vertical posts on the way in. I don't what kind of lift or cat you have but my lift is only 2" wider that the boat on each side. I also had to re-route the cables and pullies to make sure they did not scrap the hull. Take your time and walk the boat on the first time and check everything.
