Walk???

Can someone explain to me what the term "walk" means? I have read the some of the 27' Fountains will "walk" at 70-75mph. Thanks in advance.

Chine walk. Boat will want to dance from side to side all by itself at higher speeds.

It is when the boat feels like it is walking on the tail not a good thing.

Now that I understand walk, I also see people talk about powering through it. How does increasing your speed fix the problem?

Sometimes the boat will get up on pad and want to fall off to one side or the other. (chine walk) Powering through it is throttling through the walk until the boat is up on pad and balanced. I would strongly suggest throttling back more times than throttling through it.

It is the boats inability to balance. The driver plays a part. With practice one can learn to balance the boat. If you are capable of this balancing act you can drive trough it and it smooths out. If not experienced and or capable you may go swimming if you try to power through.

All V bottoms experience this at some speed. The bigger the boat the higher the speed.

The best way to get it to stop walking is sell it and buy a cat....lol
