Could you imagine being the pilot who has to get off of the 42' boat, climb up the rople ladder into the cargo container.

One of my gigs is inspecting SOLAS equipment. When it comes to tankers. Most of the time they don't actually come into port and we're not allowed to inspect during on & off load operations. So when the pilot boat goes out to get the pilot we ride out and embark for the ride to the next stop. During the voyage they cut power and drift so we can do inspection launches of the life boats. The when the pilot boat brings the pilot out at the next stop we disembark. It's like tag teaming with the pilots.
