I am going to say it is kicked up at the end as when the boat is running at speed, the length of the un-modified tab would have it creating downforce, even when fully retracted.
With the "kick" in it, I would assume it would run clear of the surface and not exert any force on the boat. |
Wouldn't the SSM VI drive throw a roost in the skiers face? I have seen them throw a roost a lot further than 200 ft.
|
Why??? I love speed especially in smaller boats, but the $$$ spent for this has to be unbelievable...
|
Maybe the upsweep on the tab makes the wake a touch more manageable for the insane skiier?

tabs are probably like that so they can get more bow lift. and the 6 is on there more as an unbreakable set up rather than a true surface drive.
|
the six is a fairly recent addition to these boats, there is only a handful running them so far, lots of early speed masters and shaft drive boats, these are cutting edge. Re Roost, you would be surprised how little is thrown up, they are run with fairly small diameter props that might have a bearing on it

Serious machine.
But sitting here in Vermont is about as close to that thing I want to get. 135mph in a 21ft no matter who designed it will get someone very close to Kervorkian results. Hopefully I am wrong... |
