Default Market Price Of Triple Vs Twin

With Todays Gas Price, In Your Opinion, For The Same Boat, Same Model, Same Year, What Would Be The Selling Price Of A Triple Vs Twin Engine Boat?

Higher: Because There Is One More Engine And Drive.

Same: Third Engine Is Worth But Sucks More Gas So Selling Price Is The Same.

Lower: Everybody Are Scared Of Gas And Triple

?????

I'd say it depends on the power involved.

when you are out in the ocean or a long way from home and lose a motor or drive you won't be asking this question, you can still plane out and run good speed, happened to me in Florida, I made it back without triples would of been out in the ocean most of night idling, can cruise with 2 to save fuel, no diff in no wake, triples are def worth more money, depending on power/drives /i would think 30k to 80k more

The thread was asking about selling price relative to twins or triples, not safety or peace of mind on the ocean.

I think in general people are scared of triple engine maintainence, never mind the fuel. It makes your market smaller and the price lower. I considered a boat with triples and wound up with twins.

twin of the same power vs trip of the same power I would say the trip boat would be more expensive.

big twins- say 850's vs trip 500's I'd say motors a wash but the boat with the 850's would be worth more since odds are it should have 6's so drives would pull value up.

I'm an outboard guy. Outboards aren't huge powerhouses (300-350HP max) so most of the time the extra power is negated by the weight so why have trips when twins can do almost the same job. $18K for a 300XS plus rigging puts it closer to $25K I would guess- for a few MPH and all that extra fuel and maintance it is not worth it.

BUT- if I could have put trips on my Concept I would have...

This is based on no research- just my perspective.
