That express is about a 28-30 foot Sea Ray. It was trying to go out an inlet near Charleston SC, if I remember right. There was a photog there taking pics of the ocean and got the boat as it headed for orbit.

jbrauer-what is your e-mail-I'll send you the full size.

What kind of boat was it? Did they survive?????
Man, now THAT is BIG WATER!

For those who cannot measure wave size.

In the navy we would also call that sea state 4 (not feet) or greater.

Ted,

The go-fast shot and the daymark, is that the one in the Hart-Miller Island channel I saw bent over about 2 years ago? Someone told me a Baja 38 Special was the type that had the daymark jump out in front of it in the middle of the night. Just wondering.

Default One of my all time favs

Year 2000 race in Baltimore, this is "Raising Cain". I can't remember the details, did he break a drive? Bill Bennett from the CBPBA took the pic hanging out on the inside of corner 2.

No the Fountain hit the day mark just outside Bay Bridge marina(you know where that is). He apparently was at the Beach Club and when he left he got on plane in front of the marina gas dock. He hit the daymark about 100 yards outside the marina and you can see the result. Word at the time was that was his first boat-only had a jet ski prior to the Fountain. It is also the reason why performance boats are not very welcome at the Beach Club.
