How many stories high is a carrier to the deck? 6? Are we talking 50 foot swells?

I just transferred off of the USS Enterprise. I was on the ship for 5 years and went through a couple storms like that one. We have all of the hangar bay doors shut when we go through this because waves will actually be tall enough to crash into the side. However, with 8 nuclear reactors at 123MW each and 4 main engines at 70,000 horsepower each it doesn't keep us from going through it.
