Nope. No go-fasts here.

It's awesome to see the Air Show from the water...we were out a couple weeks ago for the Gary Air Show...saw the Thunderbirds. Let us know what your specific plans are and we'll tell ya the best way to do it.

The air show bring out alot of go fasts from all around the lake. The lakefront gets REAL crowded, and usually very, very choppy from all the boat activity. If there is any kind of a N or N/E wind, anchoring will be difficult, because the waves usually get to 3-4's there.
Watch the marine weather for Chicago, then make your decision.

Can you still go into the harbors and tie up to the walls? We used to run from Waukegan or Northpoint to Diversey Harbor (I think that was the closest, the one with the light that runs under Lake Shore Drive) and tie up to the walls for the air show. We would get there early. Then we would walk to the air show and watch. Ususally was a pretty rough trip back between the wind kicking up and the boat traffic in the afternoon.

Great show.. I used to be on the lake all the ime when I lived in Chicago sub'rs. Don't worry.. planny of go fasts and everything in between. Anchor at the South end of the "envilope".. THat's where the Angels turn West between the highrises and just over the boats.

Otherwise known as "Olive Park" or "The Playpen"....its the area just north of Navy Pier off Oak St. beach....I think if you were lined up with the Drake Hotel but like straight out on the lake is where he'd be referring you to.

Tim,

Lots of performance boats here in Chicagoland. The Chicago Powerboat Club has its own section on this site, located here : http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/f...ysprune=&f=137
