Sorry it's such a long post, but I hope this helps. E-mail or pm me if you need more help, and let me know your choice.

Pat

I am sure I'll have plenty of questions as I narrow the search for the boat, thanks for the offer to PM you.

I think buying quality can be had based on value for your money. If you only have a certain budget, and aren't looking for top quality or top speed, you can be happy saving the money and going the Cheetah route, if the price is right. Hell, appearantly there a ton of people having fun on bayliners, and they never won a race.:drink:

There is a fine line between quality and cost. Cheetah does what they can to get into the cost bracket that makes them very attractive but they give up alot in the quality field. Just look at the gel lines on any of them, waves and runs. Some people don't mind getting a deal and giving up some quality but some do, I would bet that most people on here would much rather pay more for better quality.

Very true! I'm definitely not looking to win a race.. right now. We've owned a wellcraft and a chaparal in the past but for my first performance boat I want to "ease" into it. I definitely don't have the budget "to win the race" ;) hahaha.... someday... hopefully.

I made a similar point a few weeks ago. It seems like we have had quite an influx of new sources for insurance and finance this year- so much so that it's clogged that forum up and made it somewhat less useful.

I think everyone should shop wisely- not only for their insurance but for the agent. The reality is, there are only a few companies insuring boats. All the agents have access to these companies and they all quote about the same. A better agent is going to be able to "sell" my coverage to an underwriter- if there's some special circumstances. They're also going to be a key ally if I have a claim issue. I view my agent the same way I view my attorney, CPA or banker- as a partner.

I'm glad Stacy is joining the club and buying a perf boat. That moves her up a notch.

I agree with you on the insurance forum thing. I feel that if an insurance agent is going to be on a forum their first priority should be to be a valid resource for the forum members and to earn the business of the forum members. I have tried to bring more knowledge and information to the forum, the best I can by posting "educational pieces", program guidelines, providing advice etc. I too get aggravated when insurance advertisers say "PM Me" 100% of the time. Not saying I haven't done it in someone's unique situation or when I didn't want to disclose something to the other agents. I just feel that the forum should be used as a resource, not an advertising section. IMO...

Hey! 40FlatDeck... do you come up to Phoenix are to boat? Where do you go to?

We do most of our boating at Roosevelt with the Skater. It's plenty big with no crowds and it gives me room to run. Pleasant is only good if you like to party.
Apache is fun but is getting more and more packed with moronic jet skis:angry-smiley-038:

Myself and another 40 Skater will be out to Roosevelt on the 16th for a little testing....

You definitely didn't come across that way, I was just complimenting your boat.:drink:

You didn't say though if it is the one Trident painted? I'm thinking that's what the paint joke was?:evilb:

I am just on the extreme side of everything being perfect.......the paint job you are referring to is far from it.:traurig001:

Very cool. We were out at Roosevelt last summer quite a bit but we stick to the coves and put around. Canyon is in our backyard so that is the one that is the easiest to get to.

I'm all set with Pleasant...We took the toys out there last summer at the beginning of the season and I got thrown and busted up my arm/shoulder pretty good...

Do you camp out on the lake or just run up from Tucson for the day?

We usually go for the day. If we stay over I go back to Globe and get a hotel.

Roosevelt is huge right now with the good winter we had. Wave me down if you see us. Black, red and silver Skater.
