Noahs hull was discplacement (if you believe some guy built a wooden ship then gathered up 2 of every animal on earth and put them on that boat) but the vikings ships had the first known steps built into their design.

I always keep a full face helmet for running in the rain, a little rainex on the visor and you are good to go.
