Hi all,
Some of you know that I am a volunteer EMT in Florham Park, NJ. Yesterday morning there was a tragic house fire in town that killed a father of two and severely injured his wife and teenage daughter. I was on the first EMS crew that arrived on scene and words can not describe how it looked. The reason I wanted to share this story, aside from prayers for the family, is to remind people of two commonly overlooked things that could have prevented this tragedy.
Do not leave Tiki torches and candles burning unattended.
Please make sure all the smoke detectors are working properly in your houses. This family had two installed in the house but they were not functioning.
