Default The rugged beauty of Canada's Georgian Bay in late summer

The weather yesterday was soooo beautiful I went up to "The Bay" and cruised out to the Western Islands about 20 miles offshore in the Donzi and took these pictures I will share. The water is almost too cold to swim in but it is - "refreshing" !
Additional pics can be found in "Boating by Region" - "Great Lakes and Canada" by clicking on this link: http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...rgian-bay.html
Enjoy.

Thanks, the pics bring back memories. Up until a few years ago we used to, yearly, go up to Tobermory for a weeks of boating and diving.

Good eye, Boatnuts. That Inukshuk is exactly where you say. Indian Harbour is a beautiful anchorage. In the Great Lakes thread I mentioned finishing up the day in the small craft channel which of coarse is where that pic was taken.
My route was Midland / pass betweek Beckwith and Giants Tomb / Westerns and then into the SC channel at O'Donnel Point and south to Honey Harbour and finally back to Midland. Gorgeous day but just not enough of them this summer.

Christian, great to hear from you. Thanks for the link to your east coast trip. I was totally unaware of it and just spent some time going thru it from one end to the other. I like how nothing can stop you ! Also nice to see the help you got along the way from various OSO. Good people.
Keep well and maybe we will see you on G'bay next summer. Yes you are right, best in the east.

That fish is the best for sure. Don't know if you have ever been to Henry's on Frying Pan Island / San Soucie for their fresh fish. We always thought - ah, great - fresh pickerel right out of Georgian Bay. The last time there someone in the group walked behind a building and saw some containers that said " Lake Erie" !! ?? Maybe that was for the Perch which L Erie is famous for. LOL A group of us are going there Saturday for some "fresh pickerel". You just never know.

Keep an eye out for us on Saturday. Jim Earle is having a fun run and we will be going up to Henry's by 11:30 am for lunch. Probably in the SC channel on the way up. After lunch down to Beckwith for a swim and raft up. Sad to see our summer coming to a close.
Wave if you see us.
