Default Fountain 42 PR hits 148mph in Powerboat Mag

Read the powerboat article at 143., then mwbp posts that Doc's Stampede ran 148mph with new 1075's, I know the new 44 MTI"s with 1075's run 150mph, this is just unbelievable that a vee can run speeds close to a cat, congrats to Doc, see ya at the shootout

It was built with no cabin and set up for high speed runs. The most impresive boat was the LaveyCraft that did 110 with twin 700's. Imagine if it had 1075's.

Jeff, thought I read the 399 ran low 130's with 1075's . I would rather have the skater but 148 is still impressive for pleasure

I've had at least half-a-dozen Fountains and the 42 PR is a whole diff ball game. It's a 42 Super V race boat without a lid.

I had my personal 42 X w/ some of the first 600Sci's at the same time I had hull #4 42 PR w/ 525's a few years ago. The PR was an animal. I could run 85 in the PR in seas I could run 65-70 in my X w/ bigger power.

I had a 42 w/ 850's on order but never built it. Cash Bar and I ran the 42 w/ 525's to KW in '05 and the whole time kept saying that the boat would be SICK w/ 850's or 1075's and we made kw alongside American Muscle and another cat from Sunshine Key.

The 42 is a true offshore machine.

Didn't Cat Killer already smoke that hull in race trim? I thought the OL boat is the same as that skater.

I am still waiting on OL to stand up to Reggie... Reggie called them out and they didn't respond that I know of.

I know there are a lot of Fountain haters, but look at it unbranded. Bad azz boat... base power in the 90's and goes up from there.

And none of the cat guys can talk crap about it being a race boat with no lid, that's a huge reason why the cat boats are faster to begin with... none of them have the extra weight of cabins.

Some cats may not have cabins, but did you forget about the additional square footage a cat hull has vs a Vee ? It's almost half of another boat when you look at the 2 sides of the tunnel and then the top of the tunnel all of which a Vee does not have...

Pound for pound in the Vee's, maybe ask someone how the latest OL that went to Canada was doing I believe on less power...

And the reports I have been reading about the Bimini race was that the OL XXX was leading until a navigational error cost them a bit a time on the way back... It's unfortunate, but a win is a win and I congratulate Brett for a fine performance with his boat. At least there was competition there and in P1 Powerboat to make winining well earned and deserved!

Just to remind about the Powerboat article,
42 Fountain 142.6 1075's
32 DCB 161.8 1100's
36 Eliminator 169 1200's with a cabin!
44 MTI 169 1300's recall showed prior 174

Pleasure cats with cabins are running at V speed records with a lot less power.

That Fountain is very, very fast. Just enough already trying to compare to a cat. If Fountain wants to be compared to cats maybe Markle Insurance needs to start charging cat rates to these Fountain boats?

Don't get me wrong I think Fountain is one of the finest boats made and seems to be the fastest V in the world.
