Tow Vehicle Help

For some reason I got a bug up my ass to get a new suv. So my choices are 09 suburban 2500 or a 08 Denali xl. Right now i have an 06 silverado 2500hd crew cab long bed diesel. So Losing some of my comfort on towing is a big concern. Currently i tow my 27 nordic but plan to get into something like a 35 fountain in the next few years. Any first hand expierience towing with either on of these vehicles? Will i be ok towing my boat or a bigger boat? Which one would you get or am i better off keeping my truck. Thanks for any help and input.:ernaehrung004:

Keep your truck. The new generation SUVs are not capable of towing anything bigger than your current Nordic comfortably and safely.

i would keep what you have unless it has a ton of miles on it, it will pull that 35 with no problem

a 2500 suburban should be able to tow 12500 lbs.with the 6 liter.remember though the gross vehicle wieght will lower your tow limits. so if your loaded down you have to subtract the cargo wieght from your tow limit.

The denali/Suburban are maginal tow vehicles, but could be upgraded to do the job of towing your existing boat safely and comfortably. If you said you were thinking about a new boat in the spring, that would be a different story. But 3 years from now, whatever you buy today will probably be gone or on it's way.

Airbags, sway bars, better shocks, steering dampers, etc will make the big wagon a much more capable tow vehicle. Don't forget to ditch the stock hitch- it's a POS.

The guy I bought my boat from towed it with a gas Suburban 2500 and said it was great.....boat, fuel, and trailer is 10K lbs. +/-. My friend tows his 29' Powerquest with a Suburban 2500 also, loves it.

I am in the market for a truck and am interested in a truck like yours with a short box.

I completely agree! The longer wheelbase of your truck makes it a safer tow vehicle and your brakes are bigger nd better.

you will want a long wheel base with a diesel. once you towed with a diesel I think you will be disapointed in a gas engine
