New computer hooked up. What the F^%$???? Help!!!

Got my new computer hooked up. Same monitor, new hard drive. Now I only have 16 bit color and cannot get off the standard 640 x 480 screen settings. What gives?? It's the same monitor I had before., but everything is really big and the color sucks. Any suggestions????

Yep, Try right clicking on the desktop area and look under properties. Should find a spot to change colors and resolution.

Good luck.

Tried that already. No effect. The screen display feature doesn't even offer me any other alternatives. Nothing I have tried has worked. I'm not computer illiterate, but I can't figure out why with the old computer everything was fine, but with the new one I get this!!!

Go to setting and then to control panel. After that monitor settings.

You may also have a monitor icon on the lower right of the monitor which will also work.

We don't seem to understand......I have tried all that already. I know how to change the settings on my monitor. BUT IT DOESN'T EVEN GIVE ME THE OPTION UNDER THE CONTROL PANAL/MONITOR/SETTINGS!!!! I'm at my wits end. About ready to go back to the old, slow, crashes twice a night computer with the really noisy cooling fan. I can hardly read this message I'm typing due to the color settings. AOL runs at 256 colors, I'm using 16. Not pretty.

Running windows 95 by the way

Chances are that your new computer doesn't recognize your monitor and is using default universal settings. Right click on desktop and click properties then click on settings. Click on the advanced button and click the monitor tab. If your monitor is not identified specifically here then click change monitor and follow the directions. Let us know how it works out.

Under setting set the colors and then move the slider for res. and then hit apply. The computer may have to restart to apply.
