converting mercruiser 502(415hp) to fresh water cooled ? anyone familiar with it?

.

i recently bought a boat that was only used in fresh water , now i am going to be using it in saltwater so i want to make the engines fresh water cooled

the motors are mercruiser 502(415hp).

mercury makes a kit , has anyone done this ?

is it worth it ?

does anyone else make a kit/conversion?

thanks in advance

I did that to my original stock 454 magnum mpi, which is basically the same engine as you have. I bolted on a Mercuiser kit that I got from Bam. It fit like a glove and worked perfectly. In fact, when I upgraded my engine to my current 700 hp , na 540, I bolted the kit on that engine. Surprisingly, it works great on it as well. No overheating issues at all. See attached link...
