ever heard of a 18' Skater?
Answered an ad in the paper today, guy says it's a 18 Skater. I asked him if it is a Skater by Douglass Marine but he didn't know. He says it has a 220 Yamaha hanging on it and goes like hell. He sounds like an older gent and may not know what he has. Could this be a real Skater? Your comments would be appreciated. Thanks

I think ocean express makes one

There was on on E-Bay a few weeks ago-stripped. The consensus here then was that it is a real Skater-the boat looked like it would haul ass with a 225 on it.

GREAT running little boat, and YES Skater did make an 18' years ago...but, let's just say their design department has come A LONG way since the 18!

Thanks guys. This board is great. Pop up a question, take the dogs for a walk, log back in and voila., the answer awaits. I'll go look at it in the morning, maybe I can get a deal on this thing. Thanks again.

Yes!!!!!
Skater DID make an 18 many years ago. At the time they were state of the art. By some peoples standards, the 18 is still a great boat. I have seen several of them running around West Michigan (Skater's are built here). They run flat and fast. Had a black one with gold stripes BLAST past me on Lake Macatawa two summers ago. I was doing about 60 and it went by me like I was sitting still!!!!!

18 Skater
They are good boats when they are powered with motors of their time. don't put 260+hp on it and try to stretch it out or you will get wet a least. They have a terminal velocity, and when you get there it will lift. You will need a flight suit if you try to break 100,maybe sooner. That is why Pete quit making them when he did.

I believe Pete's son actually laid up one a few years ago. He used to work with me at JCI. But I haven't seen him in a while, so he is probably gone now. Wonder what ever happened to that boat?
