Hey guys. I was stationed at Homestead AFB from 1969 to 1972 and did all my boating in biscayne bay. We spent many enjoyable weekends beached at Elliot Key and out thru Ceasers Creek to do snorkling and Diving. We always put in at Homestead Bayfront park. We came down for a week just after the Nascar track was finished and stayed in Key Largo and I wondered then what happened to Elliot Key and if they ever built anything on the island, back then the island had nothing but trees and undergrowth on it. We use to anchor about in the middle of the island on the bay side and grill out on the sandbar at low tide. Those were great times. Could you guys take some pictures of the area and post them. Elliot is pretty much the same...just a little more crowded than in 69-72 I'm sure. When it get's too crowded I usually will go just south of it and anchor off university dock. Let me see if I can find a few pics of Elliot and I'll post them. If not I'm sure we will get some this weekend.
GPS numbers for Elliot Key are N25 29.654 W80 11.204.
As if I know how to use my GPS, remember you had to show me how to do course up, you may have to show me how to enter coordinates too, ah the heck with it, I'll just follw you.
