Eddie, I was checking out your website, and noticed you use a Dart block for your 650 and Merlin for the 750 and 825. Do you feel the Merlin Block is a better block vs. the Dart?
I only ask because I have two Merlin blocks and people question me on why I didn't go with Dart. BTW nice website |

I only ask because I have two Merlin blocks and people question me on why I didn't go with Dart. BTW nice website I actually need to change that on the website. I was using the Dart block on the smaller engines for a few reasons. When that block first came out, it was really nice. It had a super clean casting, all of the holes were bottom tapped already (it had usable threads all the way to the bottom of all threaded holes) and it was cheaper than the Merlin. On all of the larger engines, I prefer to use the Merlin block since it has true billet main caps. Although the Dart block offers steel caps as an upgrade to the ductile iron ones, I don't think they are as stout as the Merlin billet caps. After the Dart block was on the market for a while, they stopped bottom tapping the holes, they raised the price to as much or more than the Merlin and the casting was not as clean. I just decided to stick with the Merlin for everything. It just makes it easier for me to use the same block. It makes mounting sending units, plugs, etc. easier since they are all the same. With that being said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Dart block. This is all just my preference and opinion. Eddie |

Eddie/Young Performance I have not seen this thread till today new to this forum but I have read thru the entire thing. I would like to say thanks for all the information and the fact that you share the ups and downs about what you do, I think that others paint a picture that is un true because they are afraid to be honest. I am really impressed with the fact that you are open to the bad stuff as much as the good stuff. My hat goes off to you and your team. Great work and again thanks for sharing.
