Lake George, NY Marina BURNS!
Last night HALL'S Boat Company burned! Visited the site today. I was having breakfast with a chief from my old department that responded and said they had 14 tankers at the scene!

How bad was it Shane? There must have been a whole lot of irreplaceable wood boats there. Any idea if some survived? Man, I hope they had good insurance. I wonder if they will even rebuild. Man, that REALLY sucks.

Hey Larry,
Being a firefighter myself, although not in Bolton any longer but now in Niskayuna, I didn't want to get to in the way. They told me to feel free to walk around, probably because I know most of the people there, but I did not want to get in the way. At the time they were doing cause and origin. All the buildings did NOT burn. What looked like burned was the main buidling and some nearby structures suffered various amounts of damage. How many boat were lost I do not know. Clearly there were vessel casualties but to what extent I cannot even speculate. When I hear more I will post.
So when are we getting together? Cal me sometime Larry.

I'm glad it was not the whole complex. Not all the boats will have been damaged or lost. This place was a piece of local history. Look here Halls Boat Article for a little background. Shane, I will give you a call when I get some idea of when the boat will come out of storage. I am thinking about 3 weeks.

Where did you come up with that article about Halls Excellent !!
I personally know Hibbard and has been very helpful and knowledgable to me on questions i have about my old 1948 Shepard woody. Halls sold this boat as new over 50 years ago.
Ihope he rebuilds. Rumor has it he was WAY under insured though. I wish him and his family the best

Believe it or not I just did a quick Google search on Halls Boat Lake George and came up with that in about 20 seconds. Thought it was interesting and gave a little perspective to those who may not be familiar with what we just lost. I too hope that he rebuilds. Damn, must be a lot of unhappy boat owners getting bad news phone calls.
