anyone with a wellcraft 45 excalibur "overboard discharge"

i recently picked up a wellcraft 45 excalibur

on the electric panel it has a switch that says "overboard discharge" is that supposed to pump the waste out to sea ? (i know you are allowed to pump it out once you are a certain distance offshore )
when i flip the switch nothing happens ,maybe that is just to turn it on ? is there another switch somewhere else ?

also does anybody know where the waste tank is ?

No idea on yours but on bigger cruisers there are switch like that that can only be operated leagaly once you are more than 12 miles offshore.

Yours might of been disabled to be in accord with local legislation.

They normally used a macerator pump to discharge the holding tank. Some systems have a Y-valve for the holding tank "out" to a deck pump out or to the macerator. It must be switched to the correct position. Find the deck pump out fitting, odds are the tank will be under the floor or storage area between the fitting and the head. It should have some access to the tank and defiantly access to the overboard macerator pump. The macerator pumps "stick" in place and sometimes can be freed up by turning them. Some jabsco models have a screwdriver slot on the end of the motor shaft for this purpose. If this is not the case it could have a water damaged motor. Check the fuse or breaker. If the pump is sticking they will sometimes blow the breaker when the motor can't overcome the stuck pump. It is a simple system. You may want to pump the tank before you do any repairs, unless you don't mind picking up old clunkers. Good luck!
