Definitely not fake. When I lived out in Newport Beach (2000-2002) I was coming back from Catalina one afternoon close to sunset after a day of fishing on the back side of the island. Running about 28 or 30 knots with 5 people on board and we got into a pod that was easily 10 times the size of the one in that video. Thousands of em... I ain't lyin'... and they were crossing us at about a 30 degree angle from the stbd qtr to the port bow. The low sun made the water look black with the dolphins reflecting silver flashes for hundreds of yards in every direction. Wish I could have grabbed a camera, but my hands were full with the wheel.

It was undoubtedly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

thanks for posting that- brings back the moment.

I've seen the same thing going to Catalina. Dana Point actually has a tour that takes people to see this!

Not Fake, like Jayboat says. I've seen pod of thousands several times on long range fishing trips out of San Diego. They are a beautiful site.

I'd have to agree only cause it was on the 11 oclock news just a few weeks back. Actually the same video...at least the middle portion. They said they were yeah hunting i.e. rounding up the fish.

When we fish for yellow tail, we actually look for the dolphin. What happens is, the tuna will swim under a school of mackerel and round them up, as the dolphin run on the top, to box them in. Find the big pods of dolphin, and you will usually find the tuna.
