I have a 28' Active Thunder with a single 502 and Love it!! I have never heard of any AT having a hull prolem??? I was looking for all the things you are. I have looked at all the boats you hav looked at. My decision was easy. Every time I looked at a another boat I kept going back to the THUNDER! Safety, Speed, Comfort and Integrity you cant beat an Active Thunder. Chris |
Sean Olsen on this board has a gorgeous 28' Cigarette for sale that has been COMPLETELY redone. New twin smallblocks, new cabin and interior, etc.
The boat's in your price range and can be seen at Thunderboatalley.com.I think he has an ad in the classifieds here as well. I have been on this boat many times and can tell you it's a great rough water boat and rides like a dream. Give him a shout ! |
How about a 28ft Apache, true 28ft 8.6 beam big cabin and mine ran 77 gps with 440 hp 502's. There are some good deals out there.

I also have a 28 Active Thunder with twin 350 MagMPI's- love the boat! We had it in some real snotty water a few weekends ago down in Florida and it performed extremely well. It will run in the low to mid 70's MPH range with this power.
The boat has tremendous depth- it looks to be much larger than a 28' boat. I have not heard of any hull problems with Active Thunder either. Very solid custom-made boat! The Pantera is a great boat as well- take a look at both. Mine is still at the factory if you get down to FL. I just prefer SBC power and a little more balance is to be had in a 28 footer with this package. |

Thanks Wes,
Wassup...you can afford a Cigarette! Here it is for $35,000! The boat currently runs 67mph at 4600 rpms. A bit over-propped perhaps, but a nice cruise(52mph at 3500). If someone were so inclined, a pair of ProChargers or Whipples could easily put this boat into the mid to high 70's if not 80mph. It is a heavy boat---roughly 6800-7000lbs, but if you boat in water that can get whipped up, you'll always stay dry. The cabin has a v-berth and a porta-potti, but no sink, etc. |
pantera or an AT...AT does have more room...pantera will do 2X BB and the AT will do only 2X SB's....i would love to know who had a problem with the hull on a AT???...both of these are serious rough water boats.
