I usually use the 50% rule when pricing out to people, but I seldom find the same courtesy when buying:rolleyes:

A 2007 525EFI with 15 hours and a 2007 525EFI with 200 hours are both worth 50% off of retail?

I don't think so.

Whether or not a boat's value is the some of its parts or not; the next thing you can derive from such statement is ANY boat that is used is worth 50% of retail. Is that the case too?

Sorry, but I don't agree.

Average used price on a 525 EFI 12K - 17 new? You tell me. an engine can be destroyed in 5 minutes in many ways - its used

It completely depends on the item being sold. Some things will go for 20% off of of new and some for 80% off. It depends on the item, age, and amount of use its had. If you think something is overpriced, then don't buy it.

How about if i have a hard to find item, and you need it?
Better lube up baby! :D

No way to set a % price on any item. It's all supply and demand. Try to buy some used ar-15 parts right now and see what they cost you.

Funny you mention that, I ran across the Interarms owners manual from my old MAC 10 the other day. That was a blast from the past - no pun intended.

I agree!

But on the flip side you have a vast majority of individuals out there who are trying to use the market to their advantage and are looking to steal something for a lot less than it's actually worth... It cuts both ways.... :cool-smiley-027:

I'm not sure about parts, but the supply of boats for sale on OSO is down about 40% from 2yrs ago. (Used to be 1300 listings, now under 800).

The value of a item is whatever somebody is willing to pay for it. Sometimes what I think is junk, somebody comes along and buys it. Sometimes vice-versa, just ask my wife. :) Doug
