Scarab in Days of Thunder

Some of you probably know that the movie days of thunder was loosely about Tim Richmond, Harry Hyde, Dale E, and Rick Hendrick.

Does anyone know if the Scarab used in the movie was actually Tim Richmonds old boat?

That Scarab actually belongs to Rick Hendrick. I live here at Lake Norman where the boat is. I still thinks he owns it, but I have not seen it out in a few years.

Rick Hendrick owned it then. His boy Ricky drive it for a while before he died.

Gotcha, thanks for the info guys. I saw the new nascar movie Ride of Their Lives a few nights ago and saw Richmond with his Scarab and Cigarette and then saw Days of Thunder again a few nights later and it had me wondering.

I guess Richmond probably kept his boat in South Florida where he also had a residence.
