Question Silent chioce...

I just bought a 35 Cafe Racer that has Merc silent choice. I've never owned a boat with this on it and have heard about valve problems resulting from water "backwashing" into the manifolds. What is the "rule of thumb" regarding using this system?

My cig has 454, 465hp on bravos.

Thanks!

Mongo

I believe Bravo's have a flapper that closes when you kill the motor, that is as long as it hasn't melted from overheating.

So silent choice is not so good? Just had it installed during the offseason!

It depends who's system your using GameOver. If there Corsa's Silent choice your all set. They use all S.Steel flapers, so they don't melt.

people have problems with silent choice when the cam they are running is to large...with a stock merc setup you should be fine...

My last boat had silent choice. No problems on a stock motor.
