A better educated person is harder to make a fool out of.
Study and learn all you can about the particular boat, boat construction, engines, drives and trailers. Then, when you're comfortable, find a respected surveyor, not just a guy who will get you a loan, to confirm your findings.

I definitely hate to think the worst when I read something on the internet, but as an investigator and given the times, it is hard not too! I looked at the labmarine site and they have a great selection.
I have looked at some repo sites, but it didn't go to far because they required a subscription. I will be sure to look for more. Is there a certain thing to search for as keywords other than repo
I am in Northern IL so anything around this area would be great.
Chris, you did a nice job on the Pantera, but it is not exactly what I am looking for, but thank you.

what are you looking for? many oso members know of boats quietly for sale. i have several in your price range.

I will definitely get a survey done. I think it is required most times now with the loan application.
The boat I am looking for is a 2000-2004 25ft Baja Outlaw with a 496 MAG or HO. It appears to be a good entry boat in my price range. I looked at a 1999 26 Donzi zx but it was pretty beat up.

Sometimes buying directly from the owner can be to your advantage, rather then dealing with a dealer. They're not just trying to move inventory.

how about a 26 mid cabin with new everything? with ONE hour. also showing it's big brothers. Great American Concepts. This is a very rare boat. It went on to become the Laveycraft nuera. if you like midcabin layout this boat is perfect.
