1989 Ocean Express ,Express 25 w/2x250 Yamahas ?
I'm Looking at a 1989 25' Ocean Express and I'm wondering if anyone knows if they were as well built then, (Layup schedule , etc.)as they are now? This Cat has two 1991 Yamaha 250 h.p. counter rotators w/ hydraulic steering. Are these a good motor? Currently spinning 15x30 Cleavers. Thanks

I don't know much about the 25' but I have a 1988 39'er . It is great !! One hell of a boat !! The Yamahas are excellent power choice for dependibility . Most fishing guys like them . They go forever .
COme on you OE guys , step up and give some advise . The OE post was one of the biggest ones on the board . I guess they all got tired of typing !
I think you will like the boat . JOE

Glassdave , THat boat might be "slicknicks " NOT 'nickslick' .
If so ,I looked at it before buying mine . It was almost all apart .He had started to redo a little of everything at once . A little glass ,a little gel ,interior , new style hatch swap ,etc. Don't know for sure ,I would have to match the phone #. I forgot about it till you said that . He used to be on the board alot . I haven't seen him lately. Let me know if I can help . E-mail me if needed .

Let me know wich one it is ! Did you ever look at the red one at american offshore marina in fla. the transom was so wet in that boat she was broke open in the port side of tunnel transom area and a brown GOO was like OOZING out of it! that boat was Rick Conti fro Racers powerboat brokers when I was with O.E. we did a brown suede cockpit interior for it, it was FUGLEY but the 39' looked cool all red !! Ross built more of those then any body knows !!

The boat is rigged w/mechanical jack-plates and, as is, it goes about 85 mph or so. He's asking 25 k. I'll have to go see it, do a compression test, check the gearbox and free-play on the shafts, Look at all the sponson bulkheads, etc. The usual B.S. What else should I be checking for?
