Default Best intake for 496 - Air gap or Dart??

Just wondering what most guys are running for intakes on 496's? I was debating between the dual plane Air Gap or the single plane Dart or Victor Jr.

Cam would be similar to the Crane 741 grind and carb is 800 Holley. The heads are Jim V. reworked oval port GM 039's with 2.19/1.85 valves.

Any help would be appreciated.

John

With oval port heads and a supercharger, you could use either, but under boost, I'd want the Dart manifold or a Victor Jnr or similar single plane. If you were running it N/A I'd run the RPM Air Gap hands down every time.

With the boost on the inlet and the added low down torque, you wont loose out as bad in the lower revs as you would N/A with a single plane. As you get up in Revs, you may find the Dual plane RPM Air-Gap manifold causes a bit of turbulence that you don't need or want.

Good luck mate!

Thanks,
The application is for a regular asperated engine. I have blowers however I am not using them with these 496 builds.

Hey ghostrider,
How is your weather over seas? Are you still boating?
