Actually top speed of the boat is 76 MPH with it being diesel power. In 3 ft or less we can run low to mid 70's all day long but on a trip like this it's more about cruising in comfort and enjoying the trip rather than seeing how fast we can get there. We usually cruise at 55 to 60 MPH in anything up to 4 ft but on Thursday crossing to Bimini we were able to comfortably run 55 MPH in seas up to 7ft but we had the wind behind us and enjoyed the rollers in a following sea. We were not launching and had a very soft ride. Quite a different story as we started south to Georgetown. We had 20 knot winds out of the SE and we were getting slapped on the port quarter pretty good. There we were only running 45 MPH max. So, as you see it makes a difference which way the wind is blowing and how strong as well as if you are running across a Bank that is only 10 ft deep or in the Atlantic with thousands of ft of depth. Just about every day is different it seems. Sorry I got carried away and is soooo long!

Thanks John it's been great so far and I may see you soon. Hans Mark and Sean caught a flight back to Nassau to get Marks plane and fly back to Marco Island ahead of another approaching front. I am catching a flight to Lauderdale at 4:45 PM where I left car and will drive to Marco this evening.
Will return when the winds lay down.
