Default More Important Desert Storm 09 Updated Info...

NEWEST INFORMATION:

Event Updates!
Wow this event is really heating up!! The street party is full to overflowing and we had to start saying no to more boats. Didn't even imagine we would get there!! And what boats we have!! Wait till you see Mike Brown of unlimited air racing historic "September Pops" Team in their newly polished 51 ft Magnum, probably the biggest performance boat ever to grace Lake Havasu. 55,000 lbs capable of 80 mph!! Mike's agree to help out Devin Wozencraft man card station one, so you can all get an eye full!!

How about Bob Teague's new 44SS Skater "Roving Gambler", and let's talk about Gary Smiths new 40 Skater "Preditor", or Al Burns "Out of Control II" Okay, now I'm on a roll with Skaters, Bill Pyburns "Pure Platnum", Chris Joyaux's new 42 crowd pleaser "War Hog" and AJ Phillips 40 out of Louisiana "No Plans" All in all, 21 Skaters, it has to be a record!!

Not to be taken lightly, MTI is showing up with some unbelievable boats!! Some hightlights are Randy Scism's new 48, a couple of new 44's Scott Downey and David Place and rumor has it, Football Star Albert Hainsworth is showing his new 44 MTI.

We've got six really nice Outerlimits coming including Jim Shultz's bad to the bone 51 footer "Factory Billet". Mike Fiore is coming out with something really special and very secretive about it, so I can't wait!!!

And those are just some of the highlights! Two new M-35 wide body DCB's will début at D.S. along with 15 more of Dave's specialty machines. And of course we can't overlook the great group of Eliminators coming out to show everyone what Bob Leach does so well. Plus, Bob is bringing out 15 new boats for his own big show just down the road from the Nautical at the Islander RV Park, don't miss it!!

I don't want to make light of any of the great boats coming out, especially some fabulous new ones like Laveycrafts 29 Evo and Nordics new 42 Inferno and their great cats. We have quite a few Fountains coming out with some rumors of Reggie Sr coming out west, wouldn't that be something?

The City of Lake Havasu has agree to allow 50 mooring rings in the Bridgewater Channel for overnight mooring of Desert Storm Pariticipants. You must be showing the DS decal on your boat. Allowed time is 8:00 PM to 8:00 am. It will be first come, first served and only at rings that are marked.

New Event Additions!

The Havasu Air Center, a new customer centric operation at the airport has signed on to sponsor DS. The number of private aircraft that come to DS is pretty amazing and they are rolling out the red carpet for our participants. Including hanger space and anything else needed by visitors. Including, boat shelters should any of your need to get your baby out of the sun for a few days. We know we're not going to have bad weather, right!! You've all been speaking with the man upstairs and helping him understand?!

You know Friday night is the great outdoor card turn in party right? Live Band and great food, drink and all your buddies checking out your boat. How about adding a stereo contest!!! Justin Wagner, President of Waves and Wheels coming out from Lake of the Ozarks is setting up just that!! We figured that's a great time to show them off. So about 6:00 pm on Friday night, there is an entry fee of $20.00 for the competition to cover some of the cost of awards and give aways and 50% of the entry fees are donated to DSP Charities.
Rules:
1. The contestants audio system will be judged by two decibel readings, the average between the two reading will be the contestants final score

2. The decibel readings will be measured from true listening areas in or around the vessel. No closer than 14" from any interior panel and no closer than 24" off the cockpit floor.

3. The Audio system must be permanently installed and fixed to the vessel (run what you brung)

4. The contestant can play his or her own music, (Music! not frequency waves or test tracks)

Awards:

Class 1 = 31' boats and up 1st and 2 place
Class 2 = 30' boats and bellow 1st and 2 place
Loudest at the show ( 1 award )
Most creative at the show ( 1 award )
Justin will provide Plaques to all the winner and gift bags to all contestants.

Most events of this sort have a Bikini Team running around teasing the guys and upping the excitement level. Well, this year we've got one too. No, actually we have two Teams!!!! Caribbean Tan Co. is putting on a Miss Caribbean Tan contest during the weekend and you'll see these models stirring things up all around DS, plus having a Kokomo's contest!! Not to be out done, Our own local favorite Team, the Pirate Cove Marina girls will be sporting around on their brand new huge pontoon boat all decked out with special hardware including some brass poles...wonder what those are for??? Pirate Cove Marina is a huge sponsor of DS this year, so check it all out!!!
Don't forget Friday's Participant luncheon at the Nautical Resort Conference Center! You can park you boat in the channel and hitch a ride on Roadrunner Shuttles to the Nautical. Your wrist bands are required at this and all the event activities! Noon to 2:00 pm!

Don't forget to checkout the DS Truck, RV and Boat show at the Nautical Resort Conference Center Parking Area, some great custom 6 door trucks, Sport Chassis and Toter homes will be on display. ILMOR is also setting up their new engine and drive for everyone to check out!

The POPRA Race Pits will also be on the Nautical Resort Grounds out at Spectator Point on the Golf Course. Everyone is welcome to check the great boats which will be practicing on Saturday and racing on Sunday!!

This will probably be the last update before the event, just too much to do till then! Please be safe on your journey to DS and remember to have a great time. We still have room for more poker run boats at 155 and we're up to 30 shootout participants! So get your friends to sign up!!

OTHER UPDATES:

Extreme Marine of Phoenix has moved, their new location is on Cave Creek Road north of Greenway. Please see attached flyer.

We are negotiating overnight mooring with the city, in the London Bridge Channel for those participants having to remove their boats from the water every night. The proposal as it is now is for three nights maximum of 50 boats. They would be moored on the beach in the channel and tied to mooring rings in the Sea Wall, Island side (west) of the channel, south of the London Bridge. There is no cost and limited to Desert Storm Participants, there will be no addtional security but you can have someone stay overnight in your boats, must be quiet by 11:00 pm. Please email me if you are interested.

Hering Propeller will have an on site prop repair facility in the Conference Center boat and RV show at the Nautical. See attached flyer.

Enchantment Helicopters will be doing charity rides around the event for $40.00 per person with a portion going to DS charities. Contact Debbie Richardson for info. Also to arrange private aerial boat photo sessions. Phone number -- (602) 690-904

I (Jim) am assigning Poker Run Group Numbers tomorrow, If you register after that, you will be assigned in the last groups. Just a reminder, if that's an issue with anyone. J

There will be two 12 slip docks at the Nautical Resort this year. Please remember these are for event staff and Sponsors. You can drop some off on the dock, but not leave your boat there for any reason. Please don't give my staff a hard time about it, you'll not prevail, they have their instructions J

If you launch at Windor Launch ramp, please be aware, overnight parking for your tow vehicle and trailer must be arranged at time of entry, there is a fee and offenders will be towed. Don't let this happen to you! If you are too large for Windsor or the Marina and a participant of the event staying other that the Nautical. Please let me know to put you on the launch list for the Nautical.

If you need 110 octane fuel or race gas, please email Richie at Lakeland Marine. They are bringing in fuel at their location. [email protected] or Richie Hudson [[email protected]]

Staging for the boats going up to main street on Thursday night will be on McCulloch in front of the Nautical Resort starting at 3:30 pm. Todd Headlee will give you a number and tell you when to move up into place.

Don't forget to download the current schedule from http://www.lakeracerllc.com/ there have been some small changes.

Seawall mooring photo. This location is directly across from the London Bridge Resort in a well lit, well viewed, safe area.

And for those that wish to store your boats at the airport inside a secure hanger and for those that are flying in via private jet:
