YOU ONLY GET FOR WHAT YOU PAY FOR.......and it sounds like your paying for problems, not a boat. 2 Wellcrafts I know of had the same problem in the same year range and needed the entire hull clean down to the fiberglass and re-gelled and painted. So, add some upgrade money to the price.

I'd say the answers are pretty straight forward.

I tried to be a nice guy when I bought my boat. Now I'm balls deep in doing stringers and transom, see my thread in the Baja section - So it begins....A rebuild thread. No good deed goes unpunished my man.

thanks all

Thanks fellow boaters.... I did lots of homework on the prices before I made my offer. He was asking 14k obo... I obviously laughed at that price. It's a clean boat, and I wanted something to upgrade. I plan to put in FI zr-4 corvette 350's with prochargers, and I plan to completely gut and redo the cabin. I cant pay 100k for a boat, but I can build one that compares. Basically, I wanted the smallest boat I could get with twins. People have said not to worry about the blistering, its easilly fixed with a dremel and some epoxy??? I don't mean to sound so 'green'. I have 25 yrs boating experience, but always in sea rays...never a real speed boat, so I REALLY appreciate any/all input you guys give me.... thanks agn, and any opinions on the blisters??

Why not look at a Formula 272 then?

onpointe 05-25-2009 02:54 PM

Oh I looked at Formulas, bajas, liberators, and a few scarabs.... Anything in my price range was beat up. I cant buy a NEW boat yet...one day, god willing, I will....for now thou, I needed 50+mph speed and enough luxury for a weekend stay, and needed to keep the 'asset value' low enough. I boat the great lakes, so twins and atleast 25 ft were my big requirements. The nova is quite a sleeper...around here, we have problems with theft, etc, and the WORD scarab or formula invites problems.

Enticer, I did surely figure on adding upgrade money to the price... Thats why i offered 7500 on a 14k asking price, and i absolutly stuck to that price. The owner claims to OWE more than that on the boat, yet he sold it to me anyway(it officially changes ownership tomorrow after he clears the lein). I NEED to stay 'low profile' in what I own, which is why I needed a libby or nova. I am good, I will re-do the entire cabin in a weekend, and upgrade the engines/drives this winter. Having 15k total into a boat that runs 70+ and sleeps 4 seems like a good plan???

I hope you like chime walk. and fiberglass dust.

I told you what I thought :lolhit: You are taking a beating, but at least you`re getting out cheap......so far! hehehe

Shorgasm 05-25-2009 07:21 PM

You're gonna fly by $15k...I mean you won't even know where you past it.

Looks like to me you are going to spend $2ok.Wait till winter when you have that money and see what it will buy...Oops too late.
