Doesnt take long to get used to shifting the boxes, just have to be ready on the starter-ignition switches!

My understanding is you also shift the Coans too.
Switch on the dash when your ready to switch at speed.

Nortech has put a few in there boats.

Tommy at Chief Engines has also.

Why can't you switch gears w/crash boxes while the motor is running?

The gears are straight cut with no syncros. Also the Daytona crash box has a weak reverse which cannot take alot of horsing wth the throttle. SCS boxs are nice.

If your not good in panic situations crash boxes are not for you. Patience and being three steps ahead is what it takes to run a boat with boxes.

I'm still running with Speed Shift two speed Trans in my 46 Skater. Took first place in the Bimini and back race last year in 3 foot sloppy water and several poker runs after that. Still working great!!

Unless you have these,........

SCS Zero Drag Shiftable Crash Boxes......and they are for sale.

Never used,......never had power through them.
Only mounted for rigging purposes.

Anyways here they are:

Zero Drag Crash Boxes

Flywheel’s

Clutch assembly’s

Air Compressor ( 1 compressor runs both crash boxes, SCS said unless you’re a cowboy at the docks,……some people
are starting to buy individual compressor for each crashbox now )

Air Tank

Additional components for remaining solenoids and plumbing

Alignment bar

Bell Housing spacer

High torque mini starters ( there are 3 even though 2 are pictured )

Also these starters mount on the bottom of the engine, there is the provision
for a rear mount off the bell housing also,……….you would have to buy the extension
But I hear they were having problems with the extension and trying to get away from it
