Default Need Help!!! How Do You Make a Depth Finder Work on a kevlar/Carbon Fiber Hull

I have a 36 Eliminator Daytona. Eliminator says they can't put a depth finder in it because it won't shoot thru the kevlar/carbon fiber hull. They also said that hanging it on the back, it probably won't last very long. (not sure I want it on the back anyway.) Anyone have any advice.

Wow, I can't believe no one can help me. Could you bore a hole almost thru the hull bottom (Carbon Fiber) and then glass in the transducer without compromising the intregity of the bottom. I need some sugestions.

I never knew this was an issue. Try contacting the electronics manufacture. You might also want to post this thread in the tech forum.

Good luck.

Hi
A shoot thru-transducer will work just fine threw carbonfiber or kevlar, what it wont work with is coring between layers. you can cut threw top layers and epoxy to last layer. It's done all the time! If it has steps in the hull you will have to be cautious on where you put it for it to work well while underway. call me If I can help further

Thanks Guys. I talk to the rigging supervisor at Eliminator and he's the one that told me it was a problem. I figured someone could help me. I really appreciate your help. Thanks

If the boat is a stepped hull, then there maybe enough air getting underneath it that it won't work at speed.
