Default Merc with a 708ci motor?

I was just flipping though the Powerboat mag site and I came across a headline regarding a new motor for merc. Apparently it is 700 cubic inches, all aluminum and is by a outside supplier. Unfortinatly, I can't read the article.

Cord, maybe it's Ford based. We can only hope.

Payton, buddy, why on earth would Merc stoop so low? LOL

BTW, does Fieldhouse work on your boat? Just curious.

Sounds great. 700 cui and allu sounds like a lot of Ponys with little weight at a reasonable price would be fine. But I think the last was wish.

Default Merc 708cu Engine

Ok guys, the engine at the miami show was a 557 chevy block. It's 1050hp. If they're using the Allstar 708, then it's going to be around 1400hp if they do it right. Hopefully merc finally designs a completely hydraulic engine so we don't have to tear the damn things down every 50 hrs. That's crap in my mind..

If you want to see a picture of a 706 c.i. motor, go to page three of the 144 mph whipple post. Mikeshtm posted a picture of Scotty Cannons motor. Its got a two stage nitrous setup, dynoed at 1800h.p.. Its in a 25 talon with a number 6 drive.
