Upholstery/interior question
Found out today that the wood on my back seat base rotted out. The vinyl is still good, and it looks like I can do the work myself. Looks like new foam, new base and staples. I'd like to replace the wood with the plastic material some manufcturers are using these days. Anyone have an idea of what material that is and where it can be bought? Also a source for the foam would be good too.

Make it out of StarBoard.

Thanks Griff. Can you staple to starboard? Where can you buy starboard? My cabin doors are made from it, so at least I know what it is!

I buy Seaboard (same as Starboard) from this place in Tulsa: www.plasticsupplyandfab.com . It is right behind the Caravan off of Memorial. Get ready - it's expensive!
|
The PVC board is less than half the weight of Starboard and can be stapled. It comes in all densitys and thicknesses.

If you can get the seaboard locally that Sight and Sound said, it will save you a lot of $$$. And it is pretty expensive. It works just like wood. Make sure to use SS staples and fasteners when you assemble it.
