I'm kind of particular to Scarab's at this point, but won't rule out any boat. Donzi ZX, Fountain Fever type windscreens are the real deal breaker for me looks wise.

I'm guessing someone will have some more suggestions to help with that info.:drink:

I too wasn't a fan of the Fountain windshields at first, especially in pics. However, the more I see them in person the more I like them. I guess I'm just saying I wouldn't rule something out without seeing it up close on the water.

My suggestion would be to look for a Top Gun. You might have to go a little older (but maybe not), but there are plenty in awesome shape I'd bet could be had for that. Way better off than a Scarab or Eliminator even if a little older.

I also like Sonic's looks. Here's one. http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...o23868-en.html

Speaking of TG's, there was one that sold at LOTO this spring roughly $80,000 with HP500's. Very clean 1999-2000?

I picked up a '99 38 Scarab AVS just this season and have been very happy with it. The ride is great and I've always thought Wellcraft built a solid boat. I don't know much about Eliminator's, but I'd lean toward the Scarab with stock power... just my $.02. Good luck!

#6's alone is enough to push me over the edge.

Hell, you can't get a pair of new ones at that price.

Pesky... that was my take on that boat. It's a little more power than I wanted... but the Paul Pfaff motors are Mercury Racing 900s from what I was told, detuned (recammed w/ Kinsler Injection) by Paul Pfaff, #6 drivers, boat sits on a very nice trailer, very very very clean boat.

jpzaluski, I'll follow your tread since I'm looking at similar size / dollars boats!!! So I let ou do the work, and I choose between those you won't buy!:lolhit:

Have you seen this one?

The Fountain listed would be my choice and I don't like Fountains.
The 99 Scarab with 525SC's....out of business, looks outdated a bit and the 525SC's can't be run hard and with 300hrs...might need some luvin soon.
The Eliminator....the power is going to need a little here and a little there ALL the time!!! And the bottom from what I've heard is not too efficient ..hence the big power:)... how long has the Eliminator been for sale?? I would guess a while.

The Fountain...fast bottom, great engines (if the hours are that low that is another huge plus).

10 k reduction this morning on this one... if it was closer to me, I'd go have a look... 85 mph ''reliable''

Remember a 42 Fountian is really only 38 feet long.
