As posted earlier they were big up here....used to go watch them race about an hour from here back in the late (cough) 70s

I read a few yrs back about a guy in NY State I think who took like 7 yrs to restore an old front engine prop rider race boat.....he finally gets it out for its maiden run, has all his family and friends out for the event......less than 5min into the run he stuffs it and it kills him right in front of his family and everybody.....brutal
