Default What boat next?

I'm looking for recommendations of which boat to buy next.

I've had my first boat, a Donzi Minx (20' 350 SBC alpha genII) for a few months and have already put 100 hours on it. It's great, but I can tell I need something different in the near future.

I use the boat on the Hudson river during the week to do a 26 mile (each way) commute from chelsea piers to piermont. I currently do it in approx 40 minutes and would like to do it faster. Often I find the ferry wakes near manhattan to be a bit intimidating and slow down to 20-30mph. I would like to be able to go faster and not get knocked around so much as I do in the Minx. She runs great when it's smooth and no ferry wakes.

I also like to take friends out for day trips on the weekend, no more than 2hrs each way. Need more lounging space, possibly some shade, possibly some interior space. Also need to be able to cruise effectively without going full bore. In the Minx, I find that if I try to go any slower than 40mph, she porposes like crazy... so the only other option is dragging tabs with lots of up trim at 25mph. That seems too slow. Maybe I need something in the 30' range?

Would like to have something with a range of 130 miles on a tank and can cruise at 30 just as well as it can cruise at 70.

I'm looking to spend less than $100k.

Any ideas?

let me know if you need more info...

no lounging space, but you'll get there too fast to lounge.

The skater looks too small for the hudson chop/wakes. Looks fast though!

I'd buy a nice 28-30 Skater, and have a blast. If you're looking to spend up to/or just under $100k, you'll have lots to choose from.

I've got a '96 32' Hustler for sale( can see it on boattrader.com). Boat is located in Rochester, NY on Lake Ontario(fresh water). I will consider taking the Donzi as part of the deal. Wife can't get on it due to health issue-so I'm looking at cruisers, and ski boat for kids.

The Hustler will handle the water easily!!! You won't find a nicer one.
