Default Dumb Newb

I will either be flamed to holy hell, or start the best thread ever. I have my eye on a Scarab SCS. I grew up on boats, mostly cruisers in the power dept. & racing cats in the sailing dept.

That being said I am in the market for a go fast toy that doesn't rely on the wind.

If you were going to spend 20-30K for turnkey fun, single engine, but upgradeable in th HP dept... What would you be looking for?

maybe a 25 Active Thunder or Superboat Y2K if you want a single. Honestly i would go twins and in that price range you should easily to find an older 30 Scarab or 30SS Sonic.

What you would have is a $20-30K boat on it's way to $40-50K investment which will shortly revert to a $10-20K market value by 2012-2014 ...but you will be wearing a big smile and having a lot of fun during the ride.

Didn't he say he is a newbi? That boat is for an experienced capt. I love your boat but I really think it might just be a little much for a new pilot. and I do MEAN PILOT.

For your first, "performance" boat, I would suggest a single engine boat, all stock, 5000lbs or less, Stick with common brands, reason is if you get into it and find its not for you, you can resell without loosing your ass. I would suggest, 25 Baja Outlaw, 27 Fountain, 25 Checkmate, 25 Sonic, or a boat similar. Keep in mind, bigger boat means bigger everything, Tow vehicle, trailer, boat lift, marina fee's, gas, insurance, you get the idea. All of the above can be towed with a Tahoe or full size truck.
