You have a beautiful boat! I was surprised to see how fast that 24 was able to run with the lake being so choppy. What's top speed on your boat anyways? You looked like you were running mid-high 80s at some points

M3seth, thank you for the compliment. Hot weather, 80 gallons of fuel and a former Georgia running back as a partner slowed us down a bit. You are on the money speed wise. We ran 87 to 89 most of the day. Choppiness does not bother me so bad as it did my riding partner. At a much younger age I raced outboards so in compairson, the ride wasn't that bad.

I had a Lavey cat 3 years ago for this poker run powered by a Tyler Crockett 555 BBC/Whipple. It ran great but ate drives. I had to back off HP some and it was a good move---a smaller boat for the grand kids and a reliable engine that doesn't eat drives. I gave up 20 mph but after 3 years and 131 hours I'm still running without any problems at all. I'm impressed with the Ilmore engine so far. Time will tell but looks like I'm stuck in grandpa land.

Exactly. It's funny how some people assume that everyone runs their boat completely floored 100% of the time they are in it.

Or, when you have been having a nice cruise around 100 or so, and someone wanting to run 150 happens to roll on by, and later is telling everyone about how bad they smoked you. Looooosers

I started out in the late 70s with OMC V6 alcohol and nitrous. Later in the early 80s went to Merc with 6 2s and nitrous then 2.5s with nitrous and ultimtealy a stock 280 . I ran Hydrostreams, Allisons and a Mirage tunnel. Fun. I turned the Hydrostream VKing over backward and just about lost my life. I should have died but I suppose God had something else for me, and he did.

My wife was unimpressed with my racing. Rightly so. The Mirage tunnel from Brad Collins was my favorite. With the 280, a Ron Hill 32 cleaver and tight cheeks the boat ran 120 on GPS. The boat's name was "Nervous Mother".

Its gone, I'm alive and life is good.
