Marathon 41 CC

I was wondering if any of you guys ever heard of a Marathon 41 Center console ?
Several years ago I had one overhere in Europe with 3 x 275 Mercury 3,4 L coshworth outboards ,that had one blown powerhead ,I had never heard of that brand before ,and was just thinking about that boat ,and how beautifull it was ,and how well built ,the cuddy in front was huge ,with white leather upholstery ,microwave ,airco ,etc etc ,I did a search to see if I could find any more of these ,but found nothing .
Not sure where she came from ,but I would say build in Florida ,Marathon ....Ha Ha
Unfortunatly I don,t have any pics from that boat .

I did the Plug and Molds for that in 1988 the 41's were out of a 45 foot mold Smith Powerboats has the molds now if we are talking about the same boat, they all had brackets on them, Big boat @ a 10 foot beam. Marathon was out of Crusemaster Marathon we also had 55 footer.

There was Marathon Boat Company in the keys No relation.

I looked at that Jeff and the Marathon had Straight Strakes like a Bertram which would be an easy way spot it.

You are correct ,that 41 Marathon had a huge 25 inch or more bracket on the transom ,I remember the huge stringers in the hull ,they were like 16-17 inch in height and 3 inches thick ,beatifully laminated ,this was a masterpiece in laminating and rigging ,it felt like a solid piece concrete in the rough ,very heavy too ,the owner was trying to sell the boat back then,I would love to buy that boat and convert to twin turbodiesel ,but it was too much $$ back then for me .
How many of these were built ? I didn,t see any other 41 ,s .

Everyone who ran them was happy with it, the plug we pulled 4 Large panels off a long glass table and the transom which we mounted on a Jig, the length was in flux I did a 43 and a 47 finally they settled at 45 feet that is where I molded it. While I was there only 3 or 4 built if memory serves, One was Airex Core. Something happened Partnership or whatever the Molds Got stored then Don Smith bought them, He did some real nice Boats with his drive system.

I rigged one around 1990 for Jeff Soffer at Champion Marine. I put a pair of 275 Mercury cosworth engines. I have pictures of it somewhere. I remember dealing with a guy ,called Leonard.

I have a 45 Don Smith and am in the process of converting it to outboards. Great to read the history here.
