Well I couldn't find any 575's and he had to be running for the 4th,he had a local jake leg mechanic pull the top end down, found a intake leaking water in the motor. The Merc intake was corroded thru in the rear water outlet, but the intake doesn't have that provision,I guess when flushing the motor it doesent flush this area, dead end? Well he was running on the 4th for about 2hours ,no shake down run or anything It burned 4 quarts one way,his mechanic said that it was a PVC valve that was stuck the reason it burning oil. They put more oil in and took off for home, half way, boom. He said that the one motor he had to run the throttles cocked, being the sick motor was at 3-4psi boost trying to keep up with un hurt motor, (thats prob what killed it) they said it started loosing power ,spit and popped and died, wouldn't crank back up.

I'm guessing hole in a piston,I wouldn't think a leaking intake gasket would suck out 4 quarts in a hour?

What do yawl think?

Neither of mine used any oil, and I've heard
other owners of 575's say the same thing.

Did the mechanic take out or leave out the baffle tray
that goes uderneath the intake ?

Going thru 4 qts in that amount of time sounds crazy.
