Thumbs up Bought a sailboat this weekend!

Just got tired of racing around all over the lake, so we decided to slow down and save the environment instead of burning 100's of gallons of gas and spewing exhaust all over the water. You guys really ought to consider trading in those nasty loud "performance" boats and get more in tune with the planet. I've done a lot of thinking and reading about this (try "Earth in the Balance" by Al Gore - great book!) and a sailboat is the only kind of boat that make sense if you're going to be a responsible caretaker of the earth (other than a canoe or kayak, but those really aren't "boats" like we think of them).
After all, who really needs a gazillion horsepower when a single 42hp diesel will get you out onto the lake, and then you have unlimited power from Mother Nature herself!

Our new boat is a 400 Catalina, full sail rigging. Very nice, lots of space for friends and family. Think about what I said - it will bring you a lot of peace and tranquility!

Of course! Though I thought I get more takers, maybe have supercrash or catmando swing by and express their support...

My father-in-law is a sailor, has a 35' Catalina. We usually go up to visit him once a year, go for a "bob" around the lake. That's enough for me (though to be fair, if the wind is up, it can be a pleasant experience - no wind, it sucks ass.)

Must have been the "Al Gore" reference - I just knew that no one would believe that!

You had me at the title, but as soon as you said you gave up performance boats, I knew it couldn't be. If you said you bought one in addition to your go-fast... maybe.
