They are just slow. Reality is that when only half of the Great Lakes fleet is working there is going to be far less need for repairs and maintenance on the freighters. Definitely a sign of the times.

I built a breakwater in door county a few years ago and we tied our equipment at Bay Ship for the winter. Back then they were busy with some good sized government contracts. They must have completed all that work.
It's too bad since door county is such a great tourist area and had a local economy to support living there year round also. It is one of the most beautiful places on the Lakes next to Grand Traverse.
I wonder how their neighbor Palmer Johnson is doing in this economy. They built some fast and hot yachts.
