OK, so I just ordered 2 GM marine 502 longblocks (factory) from Derebery performance. They are new, factory GM built units. Do I need to do a teardown and tech inspection (verify proper clearances) Although these are supposedly marine standard engines, they dont have inconel ex valves. I thought that was one of the standards on marine engines. Any advice?

Didin't he give you a waranty for those???

I am afraid that you have got a "screwing" from good ole Leon. I got a motor from him also...told me and the paper work also supports it, but in reality...he lied on the following...

1. internal balanced motor...wrong...it is external

2. Scat crank...wrong...standard GM crank

3. port valve pockets on the heads...Wrong...very slight scratching with a grinder and that is it.

he manipulates his dyno to fabricate horsepower numbers that do not exist. Told me the motor I got from him made 631 HP, but my boat went 1 mph faster with his motor than it did with the old 454. Leon had all the excuses...all lies. Pulled the motor and took it to reputable well know motor place and the motor made 527 REAL HP on the first run and then on the other dyno, it made 528 REAL HP.
