Not hijack the thread but what does and empty trailer for a 35 weigh?

estimates boat 8000#
100 gal fuel 700#
cooler, gear 200#
trailer 2000# ???
total 10900#

Thats a lot for a 1/2 ton

you can get a new F-150 rated up to 11,300 but that is still kind of tight.

The entire rig is heavier than you may think. I weighed my 42 on a Cat Scale with 3/4 to 7/8 worth of fuel in main tanks, empty saddle tanks, empty water tank, no bathroon, no additional weekend supplies, aluminum Myco triple, drive guard, two spares and a tool box with some basics. It was around 15,800 lbs and change. An F450 is rated at 16,000 lbs for a bumper pull towing, so I ended up buying a F650 with air brakes, a 26,000 lb hitch, etc. to have a suffient margin of safety and prevent liability / property issues. Would not have taking much to overload the F450.

Why is a 35 sitting on a tandem axle trailer?
Hope everyone is ok and he gets a new one soon.

Myco offers a beefy tandem trailer...

I am the owner of the boat and truck. Wife and I are fine. Thx for the well wishes. For the record the truck is a 2500HD Duramax and the boat is a 99 Fountain 35. A three car accident happend right in front of us and we could not avoid. I swerved sharply to avoid but caught the tail end of the last car. One of the cars caught fire and the boat was touching the burning vehicle. It was just a matter of time before the cover caught. To my knowledge the fuel tanks on the boat were never ruptured. Hope the insurance works out but the wife and kids will sure miss that boat.....

Glad everyone is ok and hope everything works out with the insurance. Hope you don't mind me asking - did the bow stop or the nose of the trailer break off?
